1. Use Strong Head lines, Titles to capture visitors attention. A first time visitor will not spend more than a few seconds on the website.

2. Use pastel shades, avoid too many fonts, backgrounds, be specific about what you are offering to the visitors. Have ample amount of white space. Do not clutter your homepage.

3. Make sure the site loads quickly on a Dial Up connection also. Avoid huge graphics and too many background images. Use a little Typography to replace heavy graphics.

4. Make sure your offer is clear on the welcome page. Use simple language for any lay man to understand it quickly, avoid technical jargon and unwanted syntax.

5. User should get what he is looking for in less than 2 clicks on your website.

6. Whether you are offering services or selling products, make sure you cover all aspects related to your offerings. A past business history or testimonials helps a lot for a visitor to be convinced.

7. If your site has lots of content to offer, break it down into respective sections, this will enhance user navigation and information architecture across the website.

8. Before uploading your website live, Validate your HTML thoroughly to make sure there are no dead links.
